This course teaches peer support crisis intervention skills to first responders and individuals working in a group environment. It is a specialized acute emergency mental health intervention course used throughout the United States by public safety agencies, businesses, and schools.
This three-day seminar will provide the participant with the knowledge, skills, and techniques necessary to provide this “psychological first aid” to co-workers and others affected by critical incidents, post-traumatic stress as well as, the long-term effects of cumulative stress. Peer support team planning will also be discussed.
This training session is taught by ICISF (International Critical Incident Stress Foundation) certified instructor Jerry W. Baker. Trainees will receive two certificates for successful completion of this training. Continuing education credits are also available from ICISF.

The District 1 Fire Academy is 24 weeks of initial firefighter training that will include state certifications in Hazardous Material Awareness/Operations, Firefighter I/II and all state required curriculum to function as a firefighter in the state of Indiana.
