Overview:
Elevate your event safety planning and decision making by joining this dynamic, interactive seminar! We will highlight the essential elements of an outdoor event hazardous weather safety plan and take a hands-on approach to incorporating tools and support services available from the National Weather Service into decision making. Building on the successful 2025 format, this year’s program features all-new interactive scenarios. Take part in breakout groups, collaborating directly with NWS staff to apply concepts to real-world situations, followed by large-group discussions and sharing of ideas and best practices. Seminar objectives include:
- Demonstrate awareness of NWS products and services available before and during special events
- Understand the importance of having an event weather safety plan and the importance of calculating the time needed to alert and evacuate/shelter the attendees
- Understand the importance of having a designated weather liaison for the event to support planning and decision making
- Demonstrate awareness and knowledge of NWS products, services and Event Ready tools to make informed decisions regarding the execution of evacuation/shelter plans
