Course Description:
This 6-day course is designed to develop the managerial, administrative and leadership
skills necessary for the first-time executive chief officer and chief officers who desire a
leadership position in their agency. This course addresses critical knowledge and skills
pertaining to the responsibilities of an executive chief officer such as:
• Leadership and management.
• Politics and the role of an executive chief officer.
• Planning.
• Liability and risk management.
• Financial management and capital asset planning.
• Human resources management.
• Change management
• Collaboration, cooperation and community engagement.
