Winter 2026 Volunteer Fire Academy Week 15

Hard to believe that the Volunteer Fire Academy is already in week 15! Carl talks to us about this past week’s intensive training that included a combination of all the skills they have learned so far and some new skills like pulling drywall ceiling with one of the MAAC props to check for potential fire in an attic! Students put their skills together in realistic response scenarios; practicing what it looks like to arrive on scene, make entry, locate fire, and begin suppression as a coordinated team. They also practiced techniques to try and help preserve some of the homeowner’s belongings with tarps. It’s exciting to see the class continuing to build confidence and coordination as they move forward in the academy!
