Winter 2026 Volunteer Fire Academy Week 20

Week 20 of the District 1 Volunteer Fire Academy is in the books, and the finish line is officially in sight!
This week, Carl reflects on completing the challenging Firefighter 1 test under the new standards. With just three weeks remaining, the focus now shifts toward Firefighter 2 testing and continuing to hone their practical skills.
Training this week centered around fire sprinkler systems, learning the different types of sprinkler heads and how they function in real-world fire suppression scenarios. They also practiced an often overlooked but important part of the job: connecting with the community. This centered on giving tours of the fire station and potential community outreach opportunities.
As graduation approaches, it’s exciting to see how far these recruits have come!
