Winter 2026 Volunteer Fire Academy Week 10

Week 10 of the Volunteer Fire Academy brought recruits into a critical firefighter skill set: forcible entry! This week, our Director of Development, Carl Kurek, shares how academy students trained using the MAAC Foundation’s training props and buildings meant to replicate real homes, doors, and interior layouts they’ll encounter on actual emergency calls. They practiced cutting through garage doors and forcing open a variety of doors they might see as well as rescuing dummies in dark and smoke filled rooms. We’re proud of the progress this class continues to make each week!
